Diving the Granitic Islands

Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue are part of the Seychelles’ inner islands and make up the three main islands where the majority of the population lives. The most popular diving area in the Seychelles is around the island of Mahé, where there are nearly 30 named dive sites in the north, including the fascinating Bay Ternay Marine Park, as well as many sites in the south. Praslin and La Digue have dive centers of their own and nearly 20 fantastic dive sites between them. Single-day dive trips depart daily from either of these islands year-round.

Diving the inner islands offers a beautiful and thrilling dive experience for all levels of divers from newly certified to the most advanced. With Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue islands hosting several professional dive centers, there is something here for everyone. Beginner divers can explore shallow reefs covered in fish life, including sea turtles, humphead parrotfish, moray eels, and stingrays. In contrast, more advanced divers can venture offshore to the granite reefs where strong currents sweep them along towering pinnacles, staggering drop-offs, and small caverns. Out here, divers can see big pelagics like sea turtles and reef sharks, along with whale sharks from June to August.
