Diving in Hauraki Gulf

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city with a quarter of NZ’s population living there. It is also an Isthmus which means you are never far from the sea! The city sits on the shores of the Hauraki Gulf, a 1.2 million-hectare gulf scattered with more than 50 islands. This gulf is a diver’s playground and offers the best scuba diving in Auckland. The Hauraki Gulf is relatively temperate, and temperatures range from 13 degrees Celsius in winter (July/August) to 22+ degrees Celsius in summer (January/February). Diving is accessible by shore or boat from the Leigh coastline in the north to Coromandel and Great Barrier Island in the southeast.
