Diving in Maputo

The southernmost province of Mozambique is the Maputo Province, an unforgettable place. Explore some of the most popular diving spots such as Ponta do Ouro, perfect for shallow reef diving and dolphin and turtle encounters, Ponta Malongane where you will find colorful fish and reefs and Ponta Mamoli, with its breathtaking views. Other notable sites include Inhaca Island, Pemba Island, and Nacala Bay, all of them easily reachable. Divers will be able to enjoy a world-class diving experience, with thriving corals and a vast fish life that goes from the smallest seahorse to the biggest whales. The best time to travel to this region is from October to March when you will be able to witness whale shark, dolphin, and manta ray encounters. The Maputo Province is also famous for its quietness, pristine beaches and for being one of the less crowded regions in the country. You will find around 30 different dive sites suitable for all levels of divers from beginners to the more technical ones. You can also expect warm water temperature all year long with an average of 25º C (77º F), even during winter. This history-rich province has shallow sites where you can snorkel and areas that go as deep as 40 meters (131 feet).
