This island, considered the most fascinating in Micronesia, has good diving conditions all year round; however, we recommend you visit from December to April, when you will find the best diving conditions. These months are Manta mating season, and you can get up close and personal with these gentle giants. The waters of Yap are most famous for their resident manta rays. In this place you will find the largest concentration of manta rays in the world. Yap is rich in ancient traditions and is home to one of the most distinctive cultures of the Pacific. For locals, dance is one of the most important traditions, and it is used to pass down legends and record history, as well as for entertainment purposes. We recommend you visit during the wetter summer months, from April to September, when you will have a good chance of encountering dolphins and pilot whales. Other areas of Yap boast crystal clear water, fun swim-throughs, and plenty of smaller critters to keep your eyes busy. To get there, you can catch a flight from either Guam or Palau but only on certain days of the week.
